Descriptions
[ ]The Overblown Ego
When a film's creator decides that, oh, the nealry-perfect original is just "not perfect enough" or "isn't what my original version was due to a low budget" or "needs to be made more PC", and they create a new version that essentially destroys the film.

[ ]The Suspension of Disbelief
This is what started it all . . . most movies can effectively create a world where the characters can exist outside of normal physics. A good movie will convince you that this is all possible. A bad one will leave you scratching your head trying to determine how that made it into the final script.

[ ]The Awkward Cameo
The Awkward Cameo is one of those horrible moments that “pull you out of the movie”. See also: The Bad FX. Hitchcock loved to put himself into his films, but he was clever enough to do it early on in the films before the viewer got too ensconced, and the films typically recover from the moment quickly. This unfortunately isn’t always the case.

[ ]The Bad FX
The Bad FX is another one of those horrible moments that “pull you out of the movie”. See also: The Awkward Cameo. You’re sitting there enjoying your popcorn when all of a sudden wham - all you can think of is how bad that monster looks. Movies are getting better and better with this [“Lion/Witch/Wardrobe”; “Terminator 2”; “The Abyss”; “Jurassic Park” and many others] but many are still missing the mark.

[ ]The Refusal to Follow its Own Rules
Many films setup their own rules in order to get you to follow along with the story line and believe what is happening. IE - Superman can fly. But when a film creates a rule and then breaks it, the viewer is left wishing they’d seen a crappy romantic comedy instead.

[ ]The Overly Cute Character
Either for merchandising reasons, or to get kids to drag their parents to see the film, these are typically annoying additions that serve little to no purpose to the film.

[ ]The Deus Ex Machina
Can’t figure out how to solve that ridiculous plot that’s been constructed? Just say aliens or something similarly ridiculous did it, even if it will completely make no sense and blindside the viewers!

[ ]The Plot Warp
This occurs when the primary plot of the movie is thrown screaming to its death from a forty-story window only to be replaced with a new poorly thought out ending.

[ ]The Actor Switch
When one of the principal actors from the original smash hit does not return for the inevitable sequels, [the TV equivalent of “Darrin” in Bewitched], a completely different actor is cast in the same pivotal role in the hopes people won't care enough to notice.

[ ]The Cheap Laugh
When an element of the “real world” mysteriously appears in a fictional world that should lack this element for no other purpose than referential comedy.

[ ]The Brian Boitano
When the heroes of the film have a convenient yet corny way to deal with their situation. Named for “What Would Brian Boitano Do?” from South Park: Bigger, Longer and Uncut, mainly because of the ice skates and the case in point . . .
